Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program – A Complete Guide

The Atlantic immigration pilot program is a collaborative event between the federal government and four Atlantic provinces – Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Labrador. This permanent pathway is for foreign workers and international graduates from Canadian institutions who want to settle permanently in one of the 4 provinces in Canada.

This program helps employers to fill positions that they haven’t been able to fill locally. Canadian Atlantic Immigration Program is an employer-led program that aims to bring foreign nationals or graduates to the region to fill the position.

Work experience requirements:

To be eligible for this position you need to have a job offer from the employer who has been designated through the Atlantic Immigration program. An employer becomes designated only once he applies for the AIPP. You must meet the additional eligibility criteria regarding work, experience, and language proficiency depending on the stream you are applying for.

– You must have an appropriate educational background for this post.
– Except for overseas students who have graduated from a well-known university in Atlantic Canada, you should emphasize the requirement for employment.
– If you are into the skilled trade you are eligible to apply under the AIP.

Educational Requirements:

You must follow the educational requirements to apply under AIP:

1. If your job offer is for a NOC TEER 0, you must have at least a one-year Canadian post-secondary educational credential (or foreign equivalent).
2. If your job offer is for a NOC TEER 2, 3, or 4, you must have at least a Canadian high school diploma (or foreign equivalent).

International graduates:

International graduates need not to meet the work experience requirements
-You must have a diploma, degree, certificate, or trade or apprenticeship certification
– Must be enrolled in at least 2 years of study.
– Your study must be from a recognized post-secondary institution in 1 of the 4 Atlantic provinces.
– Your study must be full-time and for the entire duration of the study.
– You must live in one of the 4 provinces for at least 16 months during the last 2 years before you graduate.
– Must have a valid visa, work, or study while you were in Canada.

Settlement funds.

You must have the minimum settlement funds to support yourself and your family in Canada. The amount you need depends on the size of your family who immigrated with you to Canada.

Once you have the settlement plan then you must be endorsed by the province and your employer will handle the complete process. Once you receive the endorsement letter you must submit your application to the IRCC for Permanent residency.
